I got a Jeep!

This is the first post. So allow me to explain a little.

Zen is the ancient Japanese art of not giving a f**k.

Jeep is an American car that's cool to own & eXciting to drive.

Me, I am a guy from Northern Europe - Finland - who is into both.

So I got a Jeep. I also turned 40 this summer. There might be a connection. That's what my wife says, at least. She is usually right.

(At least that's what I tell her.)

Anyway, I got a Jeep two weeks ago. Bought it for 1,200 €, roughly 1430 US dollars. Drove it home with flickering lights it the Finnish summer night. Usually they are full of midnight sun. Not that night. It was dark as dark can be, and I was scared to drive this thing!

You see, I have owned cars before, but never tinkered with them. The furthers I've gone is an oil change on our Chrysler Voyager about 7 years ago. Man, was I proud of myself back then! After that, I have not even changed tires myself.

So, I am starting from almost absolute scratch when it comes to (a) owning + maintaining a car, (b) having a Jeep, and (c) doing / trying / learning basic fixes & repairs.

I also like the idea & the concept that we can learn new stuff - even venture out into new fields of knowledge altogether - at any age. I am 40, the age where guys (and gals) usually either know or don't know stuff about cars. I fall into the latter category, and this blog is my chronicle as I am changing that.

Whew, this is exciting!

That's why I got a Jeep.

And what is that Jeep, you may ask?

Why, let me eXplain: my Jeep is a 1992 XJ - "eXciting Jeep" - Cherokee, with a 2.1 liter Renault-made Turbo Diesel engine. As I have understood, these used to be more common in Europe, and not that common at all in the US. At least that's what I gathered when calling a local US-spare part store, and having the guy say flat out that they don't carry parts for European motors...

So welcome to my blog. Let's party like it's 2005, and blogs are the next big thing. Very eXciting, indeed.
